Shuzo Okabe / Architect (Born in Ehime, Japan)
Shuzo Okabe received a Master’s degree from the Environmental Design Program at the Graduate School of Media and Governance, Keio University, in 2005. He founded upsetters architects in 2004 and has led the practice since. With “Architectural approach to future environment” as a guiding concept, his practice combines environmental design grounded in architectural thinking with the design of strategies for the continuous exploration of vision. Working on projects around the world, his practice spans commissions for individuals, businesses, and the public sector, with an emphasis on design that contributes to long-term value. He is also involved in many cultural projects, rethinking the relationship between social structures—including both for-profit and non-profit models—and implementation, in order to explore new possibilities.

In 2014, he founded LED enterprise, specializing in brand development, and New York Design Lab. in the United States as part of his global strategy. In 2018, he founded Shiro Ao Inc., exploring new possibilities for whetstone quarried in Tobe, Ehime. He became Deputy Representative of the Japan Design Consultants Association (JDCA) in 2021 and its Representative in 2025. In 2026, he was appointed Area Design Director of Tobe Town, Ehime.

Shuzo Okabe’s work has received numerous awards in Japan and internationally, including the JCD Design Award Gold Award, the JSCE Civil Engineering Design Prize Excellence Award, the Good Design Award, and the iF Design Award.

He is the author of “upsetters architects 2004-2014,15,16,17” (upsetters inc., 2018), co-author of “Design Methodology of 11 Designers of the 2000s” (Rikuyosha, 2012), and served as editorial supervisor for “Architect plus, Involve -around the design-” (Yuubooks, 2019). His serialized feature “Practical Course: Changing Regional Revitalization” appeared in Nikkei Architecture in 2023.

岡部 修三 / 建築家（愛媛県生まれ）
2005年慶應義塾大学大学院 政策・メディア研究科 環境デザインプログラム 修士課程修了。2004年より upsetters architects 主宰。「新しい時代のための環境」を目指して、建築的な思考に基づく環境デザインと、ビジョンの継続的な探求のためのストラテジデザインを行う。世界各国でプロジェクトを手がけ、個人、企業、公共領域まで、長期的な価値につながるデザインに取り組む。文化に関わるプロジェクトへの参画も多く、営利・非営利を含む社会の仕組みと実装の関係を捉え直し、新しい可能性を探求している。

2014年よりブランド構築に特化した LED enterprise 代表、グローバル戦略のためのアメリカ法人 New York Design Lab. 代表。2018年より愛媛県砥部町で採れる砥石の可能性を模索する株式会社 白青 代表を兼任。2021年より日本デザインコンサルタント協会（JDCA）副代表、2025年より同代表。2026年より愛媛県砥部町エリアデザインディレクターを務める。

JCDデザイン賞金賞、土木学会デザイン賞優秀賞、グッドデザイン賞、iFデザイン賞など、国内外で受賞多数。著書に『upsetters architects 2004-2014,15,16,17』（2018年、upsetters inc.）、共著に『ゼロ年代11人のデザイン作法』（2012年、六耀社）、監修に『アーキテクトプラス “設計周辺”を巻き込む』（2019年、ユウブックス）、連載に「実践講座 地域再生が変わる」（2023年、日経アーキテクチュア）がある。
